Though we shouldn't give up on anyone, most folks succumb to all the physical and spiritual burdens amassed in this life and previous incarnations. Mindfulness meditation is so critical to get folks watching every detail of every day. A practice helps us revise our script so we bring our actions into alignment with priorities that serve our highest good.
So, if folks aren't doing the introspective work; there might be glimmers of light such as an expressed inspiration to start a healing program or a weight loss plan; but, they will not have cultivated rock solid fortitude to keep their ship on course.
We are easy prey to distractions: television, home rehab, chasing money, video games, sex, gambling, shopping, technology... so many ways to avoid self care and our evolutionary process of healing. The trick is to recognize what actions move your consciousness forward and what keeps you in a holding pattern. Again, time management.... a governing challenge.
Later in life, many don't have the will on their own to summon up a daily sitting discipline.
